The longest day..so far anyway.....073108

5th and longest day of the road trip so far, after seeing Roswell, we ended up being on the about 15 hours total today, got into San Antonio about 2330 hrs, or 11:30pm for you civilian types out there. Stayed at the Best Western on Military Drive. They only had smoking rooms but at this point we didn't really care. They did have residual odor of smoke but the desk clerk prepped us by giving us a bottle of deodorizer to take to the rooms with us just in case.....good to go!

Tomorrow we visit The Alamo and The Riverwalk, and I am also going to go to one of the Apple Stores here since I seem to have lost my earbuds for my iphone and it is a long trip ahead without earbuds. The Apple Store at La Cantera seems to be the closest.

The plan is also to find Henry's Puffy Tacos, Dad saw Food Nation with Bobby Flay on The Food Network and they raved about the tacos (here is his recipe)...we shall see!

Roswell Tour

Bigger town than I realized, thought it was just the museum and the assorted alien or two but surprise surprise it is a booming semi-metropolis. We only came here to see the UFO Museum so after lunch at Applebees we stopped by.

Made it to Roswell NM. More later, this town is jinxed.

Leaving Sante Fe

On the way to Roswell to hunt aliens. This is the view for the next 185 miles along 285 South. Gonna be a long 3 hrs ( or less depending on my lead foot or if I find a rabbit to follow )

Chama NM Gas, first time below $4/gallon

First time we encountered gas below $4/gallon, in the middle of nowhere. Explain that one to me.

Four Corners is in which state?

Went to Four Corners today, only place in the United States where you can stand in one spot and be in four different states. When we arrived we entered New Mexico:

A bit of a scare here at the sign as we were leaving, we couldn't find the trip mascot Quasimodo, turns out i was sitting on him. He appeared no worse for wear, or he was just being polite, not sure as he doesn't say much. But he was a trooper and posed for pics with the New Mexico and Colorado signs.

As soon as we left we went down the road a few hundred feet and crossed over into Colorado:

And shortly down the road we made it back into New Mexico as we continued on to Sante Fe.

Started to run into the same problem we did in Page, however were able to get couple rooms at a Best Western. Once checked in we went to a local brew pub called "The Blue Corn Cafe and Brew Pub".

The food was a bit spicy, but overall pretty good. However service was not very good, almost as if we were putting her out ordering from her.

Topped it off with dessert at Baskin Robbins and then back to the hotel for the night. We had to hurry so that the women wouldn't miss "So you think you can dance".
